Death Notice (Cape Archives) says he was born in Bishop's Clist, near Exeter, Devon, the son of Robert and Frances NEWCOMBE

Robert NEWCOMBE and Frances BAKER were married by Licence on 1st April 1781 in Exeter Cathedral

Frances the daughter of Mr. Rob't & Frances NEWCOMBE of Farringdon was born June 3rd 1781 and baptised May 7th 1787. Ann the daughter of the said Robert and Francis NEWCOMBE was born Feb'ry 10th 1783 and baptised May 7th 1787. Robert the son of Rob't and Frances NEWCOMBE was baptised May 7th 1787 in Clyst St.Mary, Devon

 

Robert NEWCOMBE and Elizabeth SAUNDERS were married by banns on 2nd June 1808 in Holy Trinity, Exeter, Devon

Richard son of Robert and Elizabeth NEWCOMBE, Combe Street, cooper, baptised April 16 1820 in St.Mary Major, Exeter, Devon

 

[Robert is listed alone on the Settler Return, presumably because the birth of his son Richard was imminent, but Death Notice (Cape Archives) for his son Robert shows that he reached the Cape.]
