Part of the marriage licence reads: On the 29th day of September in the Year of our Lord seventeen hundred and ninety eight the within-named Robert FOXCROFT of the Town and parish of Lancaster, Plasterer, aged twenty three years and upwards, appeared personally and alledged that he intended to marry with Ann CUMBERLAND, spinster, within-named, aged twenty three years....
