My Lord,
Permit me to inform your Lordship that I am a shoemaker of fair character & conduct aged twenty nine with a wife and three children and that if the terms be such as to present a fair prospect of improving my condition I shall be happy to embrace the opportunity afforded by His Majesty's Government of proceeding to the Cape of Good Hope with my family.
I therefore beg to express a humble hope that your Lordship will be pleased to cause me to be informed as speedily as possible of the particulars of this offer and with the most profound respect
I have the honour to be my Lord
Your Lordship's most obedient humble servant
William SNAPE
