Death Notice (Cape Archives) for William Samuel OWEN says his father was William OWEN. [NB the father of Thomas and William Samuel OWEN was William, not the Rev.John OWEN of Fulham as suggested in The Settler Handbook. The letter by John OWEN says his son was 18 and living in Bremen]

Thomas OWEN of this parish, bachelor, and Elizabeth SPENCER, spinster, married by licence on 16 July 1805 in St.Mary's, Finchley.

Both signed their names.

Witnesses Thos. VENABLES and Mary SPENCER

 

Betsy daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth OWEN born June 29th and baptised July 17th 1806 in St.Mary Abchurch, London [buried July 22nd 1806]

Elizabeth d. of James and Mary SPENCER was baptised 2 August 1784 in St.George's, Hanover Square (born 4 March)

[Elizabeth's elder sister Judy Ann was baptised in St.George's in 1779 and later married William Samuel OWEN]

 

James SPENCER of this parish and Mary NEWPORT of the parish of Paddington, a minor, were married by Licence with the consent of John NEWPORT, the natural and lawful father of the said minor, on 17th October 1775 in St.George's, Hanover Square.
