Death Notice (Cape Archives) says he was born in Ireland.

Die decima nona Septembris 1813 natus est tertia Octobris baptizatus fuit Petrus DUFFY, filius Joannus DUFFY et Anna DUFFY (alias BRAY) conjugum.

[Peter DUFFY was born on the nineteenth of September 1813 and baptized on the third of October, the son of John DUFFY and Anna DUFFY (alias BRAY).]

Die undecima Aprilis 1816 natus est et vigesima quinta ejusdem mensis baptizatus fuit Georgius DUFFY, filius Joannus DUFFY et Anna DUFFY (alias BRAY) conjugum.

[George DUFFY was born on the eleventh of April 1816 and baptized on the twenty-fifth of the same month, the son of John DUFFY and Anna DUFFY (alias BRAY).

 

Bailie's Party of 1820 Settlers by M.D. Nash

 

"He was a soldier in the British Army for 19 years, and served in the East Indies under General Lord Lake. He originally applied to emigrate with WILLSON's party, but subsequently joined BAILIE's. His family as entered on WILLSON's party list consisted of his wife and three sons, Charles aged 10, John aged 8 and George aged 4. Although John junior's name was omitted from BAILIE's party list, he evidently emigrated with the rest of the family, as he was in Albany in 1821."

 

Grahamstown Journal Tuesday 8 September 1857

 

DIED suddenly at Fort Beaufort, September 4, Mrs. Ann DUFFY, born BRA [sic – should be BRAY], at the advanced age of 93 years and 8 months. Deceased came to this Colony with the Settlers in 1820.
