Samuel DUXBURY of the Parish and Town of Manchester, weaver, and Margaret SMITH of Manchester, spinster, were married by banns published June 22, 29 & July 6th 1806, on 5 June 1808 in the Collegiate Church of St.Mary, St.Denys and St.George (later Manchester Cathedral).

The eldest son William was almost certainly the son of an earlier marriage (no marital status attached to Samuel on his marriage to Margaret SMITH). There is a marriage of a Samuel DUXBURY to a Margaret [FINLEY] (surname very difficut to read) on 30 January 1803 in the Collegiate Church of St.Mary, St.Denys and St.George (later Manchester Cathedral). Boyd's Marriage Index has Margaret's name as FINLEY.
